L.Designs brought Timeless Romance on Paper to our recent styled shoot.
From French-inspired Toile de Jouy patterns to hand-painted watercolor venue illustrations, this invitation suite is a true work of art. Designed for our latest styled shoot, the collection blends old-world elegance with modern trends; textured papers, linen ribbons, and wax seals—all coming together to create pieces that are as personal as they are timeless. Each piece was designed to be both beautiful and deeply personal—treasures couples can keep long after their wedding day.
We sat down with Laura from L.Designs to talk about her process in creating the invitations for our shoot.

Q & A With Laura from L.Designs
Once you were given the styled shoot theme, how did you begin designing this invitation suite?
It’s always nice to start with a few ideas. The shoot had a beautifully curated inspo board that gave me tons of colors, patterns, and layouts to start building ideas. My designer brain instantly starts imagining looks and combos, and I get right to work setting up new designs. I started by choosing a French-inspired blue Toile de Jouy pattern to incorporate into the designs. From there, I picked a few different fonts and watercolor combinations to create different looks (formal, simple, modern). Once the designs were completed, I was able to play around with physical elements, such as textured papers, linen ribbons, wax seals, envelope liners, and more!
What are some of the special elements of this design, including the custom artwork from Brush Strokes and Bubbly? What was it like to collaborate on this project?
Brush Strokes and Bubbly did an amazing job creating both landscape venue paintings, along with icon watercolors that I was able to incorporate into the wedding invitations and signage. I created designs using the venue watercolors as the main focal point of the main wedding invitation and created custom timelines and drink signage using the icon images. This is by far my favorite way to showcase a venue within an invitation suite. By using a watercolor, you still create a soft, formal, intimate look for your guest to enjoy. I now offer all of my clients the opportunity to collaborate with Brush Strokes and Bubbly to create one-of-a-kind watercolor invitations.
Did you incorporate any current trends into the suite?
I did! Right now, the vintage French Toile de Jouy blue patterns are really popular. It’s chic and elegant, while still giving a country-esque! It’s the perfect accent! Custom watercolors are also very popular right now. It’s the perfect way to make your pieces both one of a kind and have a personalized memento to keep and remember for years to come. For the second shoot, I also included new shaped wedding invitations, including half arched, oval, and circular pieces, which is a hot new trend!

Are there any personal touches or design elements you especially love to include for couples? If so, which ones stand out in these suites?
My signature personalized touch is adding specialty papers and accessories! These specific suites included texturized elegant cotton paper, dusty blue linen ribbon with frayed edges, dusty blue and pearl white wax seals, customized vellum belly bands using the toile de jouy pattern, printed dusty blue envelopes and toile de jouy envelope liners.
What else should we know about these designs?
The next theme and color palette shifted to a bright, modern aesthetic suited for both summer and fall.
For the second location of our shoot, we shifted the theme and color palette to create a fresh, modern look. To tie everything together, we shared the floral selections with Laura from L.Designs, who designed a stunning invitation suite. She incorporated sleek, contemporary details and even crafted a coordinating envelope liner featuring the same blooms.
