Where every brushstroke tells a story and every sip sparkles with meaning.

Weddings are filled with fleeting moments—but a growing trend is turning those moments into art that lasts. Live watercolor painting adds an interactive, artful element to the celebration, giving guests a front-row seat to creativity in motion—and a keepsake they’ll treasure long after the last dance. In this feature, we sit down with the artist behind the brush to talk inspiration, process, and how meaningful details can transform a wedding day

What sparked the idea to bring live watercolor painting to weddings?

For me, it’s all about giving people something meaningful to cherish forever. So many wedding favors get tossed or forgotten, but a personalized watercolor painting is something guests hold onto. I wanted to create something unique, memorable, and special for each person — something they can look at years later and instantly remember that day.

How do you capture a guest’s personality in just a few brushstrokes?

It’s all in the little details — the way someone stands, the part in their hair, or a unique feature that sets them apart. I don’t paint faces, but you can still tell exactly who each portrait is. It’s one of my favorite parts — watching guests come up to the board, instantly recognizing their painting, and sometimes even guessing who’s who before they grab it. Every single time, they’re spot on, which makes it so fun to watch!

What’s it like creating art in real time, surrounded by wedding-day excitement?

Honestly, it’s exhilarating and inspiring. There’s just so much energy on wedding days — laughter, music, happy tears — and I get to be right in the middle of it all. Guests come up and chat while I paint, and it becomes this beautiful little entertainment moment for everyone. And the reactions? They’re the best — people light up when they see their finished portrait.

How do your portraits pull double duty as entertainment and take-home treasures?

The paintings are an experience and a keepsake all in one. Guests love watching the portraits come to life in real time — it’s mesmerizing for them — and then they get to take home a personalized piece of art from the wedding. It’s something they’ll keep forever, and couples love knowing their guests leave with something special.

What fun trends or unique requests are couples asking for in live wedding art right now?

Lately, couples are getting super creative! Some recent requests have been:
Custom bottle paintings for champagne or wine.
Painting the wedding venue to include on invitations or signage.
Adding dogs or pets into the artwork.
Family group portraits, especially incorporating loved ones who’ve passed into the paintings, blending old photos with new memories so it feels like they’re part of the celebration.
It’s been amazing to see how couples want their art to reflect their story and make the day even more personal.

Tell us about your new offering, the Bubbly Bar!

We’re so excited about this! The Brushstrokes & Bubbly Bar takes the experience to the next level. We’ve been collecting gorgeous antique glassware and styling a beautiful champagne setup for guests. Here’s how it works:
Guests come grab a glass of bubbly.
They have their portrait painted live while they enjoy the celebration.
At the end of the evening, they return their glass and pick up their finished painting to take home.

It creates this amazing flow — sipping, socializing, and celebrating — and makes the experience even more memorable.

Blending fine art with wedding-day magic, Brushstrokes & Bubbly brought a fresh, elevated perspective to our French country–inspired fashion shoot. From invitations to signage, hand-painted details beautifully translated the vision of this styled shoot into something truly special.

How did you approach creating custom artwork for this shoot’s invitation suite?

I was approached by Premier Bride to create something special for this styled shoot, and I knew right away that I wanted the artwork to reflect the French heritage vibe they were going for. I spent time studying Jean’s Pinterest boards, looking at the florals, linens, and overall inspiration. I really wanted the paintings I created of the buildings to feel traditional yet elegant, something that tied into the entire vision of the shoot. The color palette came straight from the inspiration boards — soft blues, blue hydrangeas, and crisp whites — all pulled together to create a timeless French country look.

What inspired the color palette and style of your watercolor pieces?

The color palette was completely inspired by the mood boards Jean sent me. I loved the combination of French blues, soft whites, and natural textures, so I wanted my artwork to feel cohesive and delicate, tying in perfectly with the styled shoot. Everything about this project leaned into that light, airy French countryside vibe.

Were there any unique elements of the theme that influenced your designs?

Absolutely! One of my favorite parts was styling my table to tie into the shoot. I used a soft blue linen, some beautiful flowers on the side, and added blue ribbon to the painting board so everything felt cohesive and intentional. Every little touch was designed to pull the entire look together and complement the French heritage aesthetic.

Tell us about the process of translating your art into both paper and silk signage.

This was such a fun part of the project! I studied photos of the bride and groom from the styled shoot and incorporated those into my pieces to keep everything connected. For the silk signage, Traveling Taps approached me to create something special for their bar setup, which was such a unique request and really exciting to work on.

I also created building paintings, studied the gazebo and church at Heritage Hills for the invitations, and painted the drink illustrations for Traveling Taps based on the cocktails they were featuring. They shared their vision with me, and I ran with it — making sure every element matched the vibe of the shoot perfectly.

What are some of your favorite details from this project?

I loved seeing my work woven into so many different areas — from the invitations with the beautiful buildings at Heritage Hills and silk signage to the drink signs for Traveling Taps. Setting up my own table at the shoot was also so special. It was like I have painted the bride and groom live, even though it was done before hand and it made the entire styled shoot feel like a real wedding day.

What did you enjoy most about collaborating on this shoot?

The best part was getting to work alongside such a talented, creative team — including some amazing vendors I’ve collaborated with before, from the florist to the day-of planner. It was fun to brainstorm ideas, share inspiration, and see it all come together. The freedom to create while being part of such a beautifully styled event made this shoot so rewarding.
