THE BEGINNING

HOW THEY MET

Peyton and Adam’s story began on a Fourth of July weekend in 2022. Peyton was out with her parents, and Adam had come with a friend to enjoy a live band playing nearby. While Peyton danced with her mom, she accidentally bumped into Adam. Without missing a beat, he told her that she was very beautiful.

That comment triggered what Peyton now calls the “Parent Test.” Her mom fired off a few preliminary questions before Adam was officially approved to approach Peyton. Of course, he passed! The two spent the rest of the night talking and laughing. What started as a chance holiday encounter blossomed into the beginning of something beautiful.

THE PROPOSAL

Adam proposed during a walk on the trails near Peyton’s parents’ home — the same park where they had gone on their first official date. They were out with Peyton’s parents, her brother, and sister-in-law enjoying a quiet afternoon when they stopped by the water to take photos. In that familiar spot, Adam turned to her and asked her to marry him.
Having the proposal happen in the place where their story began, with family standing nearby, made the moment feel complete. It tied their first memories together with the promise of everything still to come.

THE PLANNING

With just three months to plan, Peyton and Adam kept their focus clear: natural, faith-filled, and intimate. They envisioned an outdoor summer celebration surrounded by the people they love most, leaning into a wildflower-inspired theme that felt relaxed and true to them. Pinterest helped refine table décor and signage ideas — which they designed themselves using Canva and brought to life with a Cricut — but the wooded backyard setting ultimately shaped the day.
To bring their floral vision together, they worked with The Stock Peddler in Shawano to create the modern bouquets. They complemented them with fresh blooms gathered from a local farmers’ market.  At the ceremony, bunches of the pastel flowers were arranged in woven baskets at the start of the aisle, adding a soft, welcoming touch. For the reception, delicate stems were placed in bud vases, creating simple, colorful centerpieces that felt like summer in full bloom.

THE CEREMONY

The ceremony took place in a family backyard beneath tall pine trees. For their altar, Peyton and Adam used two of the towering pines as natural anchors, draping a long piece of white fabric loosely between them to create a simple arch.

Their pastor officiated and began the ceremony with a prayer over the couple. Both of their mothers chose bible verses to read, bringing the families directly into the ceremony and making the moment feel deeply personal. Peyton and Adam had written their own vows, which they shared privately with each other before the ceremony. Peyton then walked down the aisle to “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley.

One of the most memorable moments for Peyton was her first look with her dad before the ceremony. Seeing his pride and love gave her a sense of calm before she walked down the aisle. She and Adam also cherished the quiet time they spent alone together in prayer before the festivities began.

CAPTURING THE DAY

For photography, Peyton and Adam chose Macy Roth Artistry after falling in love with her ability to capture natural light and authentic expressions. Even within their short planning window, Macy made room for an engagement session, ensuring their full story was documented from the start.
Macy worked alongside her mom, Tami, and together they created a calm, organized presence throughout the day. One of the couple’s favorite images came when Macy pulled out her drone and had them lie on the dock from above — a playful, creative moment that turned into a standout photograph. More than just capturing portraits, Macy preserved the in-between glances, laughter, and emotion that made the day feel alive.

THE RECEPTION

A warmly lit tent brought the backyard reception to life, with string lights creating a magical glow after sunset. Dinner and buffet tables were arranged inside the tent, while bistro tables and lawn games gave guests space to mingle outdoors.
Dinner was provided by Mission BBQ and featured smoked turkey and brisket with a variety of sides and sauces. Their signature drink was an Arnold Palmer made with sweet tea and lemonade, which fit the summer setting perfectly. A family friend also made homemade wine and cider for guests to enjoy. For dessert, they served an assortment of pies from a local diner they love. In fact, instead of a traditional wedding cake, the couple chose a special wedding pie. Later in the evening, guests gathered around the fire pit for s’mores under the stars.
Peyton and Adam’s first dance was to “Soulmate” by Josh Turner, played over the speakers as they swayed under the tent lights. The atmosphere was exactly what they had hoped for.

LOOKING BACK

Reflecting on the day, the moments that stand out to Peyton most are her first look with her dad and the quiet time she shared with Adam in prayer and in their private vows. Those small moments allowed the day to feel grounded amidst the excitement.
Peyton and Adam are especially grateful for their photographer, Macy Roth. Her ability to capture natural expressions and genuine interactions allows them to relive the emotions of the day every time they look at their images. With Macy and her mom supporting them behind the scenes, the entire day felt smooth and easy from start to finish.

ADVICE FROM THE BRIDE AND GROOM

Peyton and Adam encourage couples to keep things simple and focus on what truly reflects who you are. They proved that a smaller backyard wedding can feel just as special and personal as a large celebration. Choosing what matters most to you will make the day feel uniquely yours.
They recommend investing time and budget into the elements that mean the most, whether it’s food you both love, personal touches in the décor, or photography that preserves your favorite memories. In the end, they believe a wedding should feel relaxed, genuine, and centered on the people you love most.
