Danes Hall Winter Wedding – Nicci & Mitch

September 23, 2022

A Winter Wedding in Waupaca

How It Started

It was Nicci’s sophomore year and Mitch’s junior year of high school when he moved to New London. For a while, the two had mutual friends, but nothing more than that. Four years after Nicci graduated high school, Mitch reached out on Facebook to ask Nicci on a movie date, and the rest is history.

Fastforward, and Mitch is often in charge of dinner since Nicci works late hours. One Friday night in December, Nicci arrived home to find the back door wide open and all the lights on. When she walked in, there were balloons with love notes trailing through the house. She followed them to find Mitch down on one knee in a heart-shaped circle of candles. “He cried, I cried, and of course I said yes!”

Bridal Gown & Formalwear

After trying on 20+ dresses, Nicci found her Christina Wu gown at Elaine’s Bridal and Events in Appleton. “Elaine’s was our last stop of the day, and they had a trunk show going on in their store. After trying on a lot of wedding dresses, my consultant said she knew a perfect dress—and she did, because I said YES!” For Mitch’s formalwear, they turned to Victorian Bridal in Waupaca to bring his look together.

Wedding Planning with 88 Events & Danes Hall

Nicci and Mitch chose to have both their ceremony and reception at Danes Hall of Waupaca. Why did they choose it? “For the natural beauty, along with the amazing owners and staff!” To help plan the day, 88 Events worked with Danes Hall to make it all come together.

“My mother in law said to hire people to do stuff,” Nicci says. “You don’t want to stress on your special day, and I’m so glad I took her advice! I sat back and enjoyed the day while 88 Events and Danes Hall turned our dreams, wishes, and ideas into our beautiful wedding day!”

Danes Hall Wedding Ceremony & Reception

Mitch and Nicci’s wedding was simple and classic with a dash of vintage. Their Danes Hall ceremony was officiated by one of their friends, who surprised them with personalized vows on the day of the wedding. Nicci’s former middle school choir teacher played the piano, which was also super special. “She took three songs and learned them just for our wedding day!”

The reception was catered by Crystal Falls of New London, bringing all the deliciousness from charcuterie boards and chicken pesto to dinner rolls and pies. There was also a heart-shaped red velvet cake and pink heart-shaped sugar cookies as a wedding favor. The beverages came courtesy of Danes Hall with were three signature drinks, one for each of Mitch and Nicci’s three dogs: Zoey’s Martini, Lily’s Whiskey Margarita, and Gracie’s Raspberry Mocktail. “Our favorite part of the reception was by far the drinks—and the speeches!”
