Maria and Cameron, two Green Bay, Wisconsin natives, met through mutual friends. One hot Friday evening in June, they got “tricked” into going for sushi so they could meet, and much to their friends’ delight, the two hit it off instantly. Cameron reached out to Maria on Facebook Messenger just hours after meeting. They ended up getting together the next couple of days with the same group of friends, but it wasn’t until quite a while later when they would finally exchange phone numbers. Less than a year after meeting, Cameron moved in to live with Maria, and the rest is history.
One of Maria and Cameon’s dear friends, Mallory Kinchen, is a photographer. She asked Maria if she wanted to model in a photoshoot to advertise her newest mini sessions for “families with pets,” and she agreed. Little did Maria know, Mallory and Cameron had another plan in mind. The three of them went to the Pulaski Polka Day grounds for the so-called photo session, and at first, Cameron wasn’t catching onto Mallory’s subtle hints. Finally, she yelled, “Oh my god, a bald eagle just landed in that tree!” to get Maria to look. However, the bird was definitely not an
Eagle. Meanwhile, Cameron got down on one knee, and when Maria turned around, he popped the question.
What made the moment even better is that the two had dinner plans with family after the photo shoot since Maria’s sister and brother-in-law were in town. Therefore, Maria assumed they would be surprising everyone with the wonderful news. As they were leaving, Mallory called Cameron to tell him that her husband – who is one of Cameron’s best friends – had a gift for them and wanted them to swing by and grab it before going to Maria’s parents. Even though she just got engaged, Maria was becoming slightly annoyed since her sister was getting impatient and Mallory and Cameron’s house was in the opposite direction. However, once they arrived, they walked into a surprise engagement party with their families and closest friends!
Maria found her dream wedding dress, a stunning Lillian West gown by Justin Alexander, at Vera’s House of Brides in Madison. She tried on about 50 dresses before realizing it was the one she wanted to tie the knot in. The details, the train, the fit, the cost, and the ability to customize it to make it her own were just a few reasons why she knew it had to be hers.
Maria and Cameron had their wedding ceremony inside the Dance Hall at Pamperin Park in Green Bay. Since the hall is naturally beautiful, they kept the décor simple with a eucalyptus garland on the fireplace mantle and vases with pampas grass along the aisle. Their ceremony was short but sentimental and sweet. Their nephews served as the ring bearers, and their dog Sky was the “flower girl” – flower collar, floral leash, tutu, and all. For the unity display, Maria and Cameron branded the letter B (to symbolize their new shared last name) onto a piece of wood they planned to turn into a bench or table.
Adam from Defining 78 captured all of the special moments between the newlyweds, the bridal party, and their loved ones. “The way he uses the natural lighting to create beautiful works of art and his ability to capture the raw emotion in every photo are unmatched,” Marie shared. Adam went above and beyond for Maria and Cameron’s wedding photos and video.
Most of the décor for Maria and Cameron’s wedding was DIY projects! Maria had a vision in mind, and everything fell into place. She made all of the signage herself, including a ceremony sign, welcome sign, and guestbook table sign. She also has a knack for jewelry making (She is the owner of Rosebud & Thorn), so she made her own necklace and earrings as well as the necklaces and earrings (plus travel jewelry cases) for each of her bridesmaids. Maria’s parents cut lavender from their bushes at home for the table centerpieces. The seating cards were personalized luggage tags with the quote, “They said some roads are not meant to be traveled alone. Let’s go. Maria and Cameron 04.01.2023.”
Instead of numbering the tables, they chose to designate a city to each table to represent the places they’ve traveled. For the guestbook, each guest chose a flag that was numbered, pinned it onto a world map, and then signed their names and wrote why they chose that place. The map is now hanging in their spare room at home, and they plan to add their own pins for every place they travel as husband and wife.
Maria and Cameron’s reception was at the newly renovated Stadium View Sports Bar and Event Hall. They were actually the very first couple to get married in the new space! Their favorite parts of the reception were the heartfelt speeches as well as the dancing.
There were several reasons why Maria and Cameron booked Stadium View as their wedding venue. For starters, the space was big enough to hold their large guest list. The budget was also something they, along with many other couples, had to take into consideration, and Stadium View met their needs. The price was all-inclusive and upfront, which made things a lot easier. The location is also close to a number of hotels so their guests had plenty of options for where to stay before and after the celebration. Plus, the venue had recently undergone renovations, which made it all the more appealing.
Stadium View is a one-stop shop for food and beverages. For dinner, guests enjoyed a family-style meal including broasted chicken, BBQ ribs, coleslaw, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, and dinner rolls.
Dessert featured four flavors of mini hand pies from Ampersand Cake Co. – peach, apple, cherry, and blueberry – plus pecan and raspberry crumble bars. Guests also treated themselves to a candy bar with an assortment of sweets.
Do not stress about the things out of your control. Whatever happens on your day happens, even if it isn’t exactly what you envisioned or had planned for!! In hindsight, it all creates a good memory and you are likely one of the only people who knows! Just enjoy EVERY SINGLE MINUTE!!! It is over before you know it!!!!
