Natalee and Logan met in high school, had been good friends, but romance didn’t spark until college. The couple spent two summers living and working in Door County where Ellison Bluff became their special place to enjoy the sunset, making it the perfect place for Logan to propose.
Covid 19 forced a complete change to Natalee and Logan’s plans, requiring a new venue, new city and new date. The couple had to scramble to adjust their vision and recreate the day, in the end they pulled off the wedding they had always dreamed of. “We learned we have the most amazing people around us who pulled out all the stops to create our perfect backyard wedding with surprises, fun and so much love” says Natalee.
The couple chose the Green Bay Botanical Gardens for their nuptials. In a ceremony filled with special moments one of Natalee’s favorites occurred before she walked down the aisle with her parents. Logan’s Dad went up and spoke to him, “to pass wisdom and share his love for Logan”, it was a meaningful surprise for the bride and groom. Natalee knew, at that point, she would be tearing up for the entire ceremony.
The day started with the getting ready and first look shots at the vintage Hotel Northland in Green Bay. Then on to the ceremony, the botanical garden is always a stunning backdrop for wedding photos. Next stop a fun confetti moment at the Green Bay Community Church barn before heading to the reception location. “Devon (of Devon Rose Photography) was incredible, before and after our wedding day. She has so much experience and really helped us nail down a timeline and logistics. As things fell apart due to Covid she was so supportive and did everything she could to help us pick up the pieces”. On the big day, Devon’s “calm yet vibrant” presence kept things progressing smoothly while corralling the large wedding party, and capturing Natalee and Logan’s “tenderness and true feelings” on film. “She went above and beyond for us and we are so grateful for her”.
Planned during a pandemic, the entire affair was do it yourself. A backyard reception meant virtually no rules where creativity and ideas could flow freely. Natalee’s favorite project ended up being the chic signage she created.
The couple chose 88 Events for floral and coordination. “88 Events was incredible”, Natalee says. “The flowers were beyond beautiful, and I still get compliments on them! The coordination service they provided was essential for our DIY backyard wedding. They handled every issue as it arose with kindness and professionalism. They were the ones to make sure Logan and I ate at the reception, which I thought was really thoughtful”.
When Natalee and Logan arrived for their backyard reception a torrential rain was falling. Though the weather had turned nasty “it didn’t matter, we were married, we were happy, and nothing could take that away”. Their family and friends all jumped in to help and the entire group was able to move everything under the tents. The sight of everyone running through the rain in their suits and dresses was “both funny and touching”. The rain passed through quickly leaving behind clear skies. The wedding party even had time for a quick cruise around the lake before the reception guests arrived. One of Natalee’s favorite moments came while dancing to Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” when fireworks suddenly went off a few houses away, they thought it was a coincidence, instead it was a surprise planned by Natalee’s parents. “It was exhilarating, and we felt like we were in a movie.”
“I will sing the praises of our food truck wedding forever!” Natalee says. Mexican food from Maldonado’s and wood fired pizza provided by Papa Frank’s, great food and very easy to work with. Dessert was individually portioned ice cream from Brain Freeze, the perfect topper on a hot August day. Pour Inc of Milwaukee provided drinks and their bar tenders were friendly and efficient and easy to work with.
Make a separate email for the wedding you have easy access to all your communication.
“The things you’re stressing about, the tiny details and logistics, won’t matter on your day. You probably won’t even think about them. Instead, you’ll be so surrounded by joy, you’ll forget about all the little things and be focused on your big love”.
