Both Wisconsin natives, Andy from Saumico and Laura from Algoma met at NBC26 in 2014. Andy was working there part time and Laura was an intern. The two crossed paths again in 2015 at a bar in Green Bay on a night when neither of them really wanted to be there. But it’s a good thing they both were! Laura walked up to Andy, and the two chatted and danced all night.
Fast forward and Laura and Andy are enjoying their annual couples weekend up north at Andy’s family cabin. While enjoying the campfire one night, Andy got down on one knee and asked Laura to marry him. You can bet she said yes.
Laura and Andy planned a ceremony at Devotions Wedding Chapel — an experience they speak very highly of. “Wendy and David at Devotions were so helpful! They had everything available for us, such as decor, AV equipment, and they were so easy to get ahold of. They even accommodated our live music at the rehearsal dinner.”
The ceremony itself was Disney themed and featured quotes from the bride and groom’s favorite Disney movies. “Our favorite part was that we wrote our own vows. We were later told there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.”
Following the ceremony, the bridal party stopped for photos at Fonferek Glen, City Deck, and Titletown Rooftop Bar before heading to the reception at Tundra Lodge. Laura actually works at the Tundra Lodge as the Wedding Sales Manager, which made planning a breeze. “Laura’s manager Jamie Calaway made planning easy. We knew our reception was in great hands with all of the staff! It was so wonderful to have the reception there and to experience it with all of the staff.”
Dinner and drinks were also catered by Tundra Lodge. Andy and Laura opted for a traditional family-style dinner of herb-roasted chicken, maple-glazed ham, Yukon garlic mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and dinner rolls. To drink, there was Bud Light, Miller Lite, and Spotted Cow on tap, plus complimentary bottles of wine for guests. For dessert, there were brownies from Tundra Lodge and cake balls and cupcakes from Cupcake Couture. Laura and Andy agree that their cupcake tasting was one of their parts of wedding planning.
Another favorite thing that Andy and Laura planned was their first dance to Backstreet Boys “Chances.” “The song represented the first night we met.” The bride and groom choreographed their dance, even including a small lift! Their dance was not only a wonderful treat for their guests, but it will be a marvelous memory to cherish for a lifetime.
