Beth & Henry’s celebration of love at the Heidel House Hotel was nothing short of perfect.

How They Met

Beth, originally hailing from Selby, England, attended UW-La Crosse, while Henry, who is from DeForest, Wisconsin, went to UW-Whitewater. As fate would have it, Beth’s roommate was dating Henry’s roommate. They thought Beth and Henry would be a good match, and the rest is history!

The Engagement

For Beth’s great aunt and great uncle’s 50th wedding anniversary, they rented out a castle in Edinburgh, Scotland for the weekend. Henry reached out to Beth’s cousin, who lives in Dubai, and asked her to get the ring. All of Beth’s family has rings and pieces of jewelry from the same jeweler in Dubai. Beth’s cousin and Henry collaborated to design the ring via Zoom, and she brought the ring from across the world to the family reunion in Scotland. On the last day in the castle, Henry asked Beth if she wanted to go for a walk, but she said no since it was cold outside. So, Henry got down on one knee and proposed on the grounds of the castle. When they got back inside, everyone was waiting for them with champagne to celebrate!

The Dress

After trying on about 10 dresses, Beth found her dream wedding dress. She knew it was “the one” when she cried when she put it on.

The Ceremony

Beth and Henry’s wedding was held at the Heidel House Hotel in Green Lake on a beautiful October day. The temperature was a mild 75 degrees, which was perfect for their outdoor ceremony. They chose the same beautiful venue for their rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception. So many friends, family members, and loved ones came in from all over the world for Beth and Henry’s big day, so they opted for a place where people could stay and get away. And, since everything was in one spot, they didn’t have to worry about booking a shuttle to bring guests back and forth.

Beth and Henry were both walked down the aisle by their parents, and their best friend Christian officiated the ceremony. Beth’s great aunt and uncle from Scotland did a traditional Scottish marriage reading. The couple received an engraved quaich (a Scottish drinking cup) as a gift, and they drank whisky to symbolize their everlasting love and friendship.

The Food

Heidel House catered all of the food and drinks for Beth and Henry’s wedding and compiled an amazing menu for everyone to enjoy. During cocktail hour, a variety of delicious hors d’oeuvres were served, including meatballs, crab cakes, cheese and crackers, and miniature ravioli. For dinner, guests were given an option of creamy chicken or glazed salmon. Pizza, always a crowd favorite, was the late night snack! Craig’s Cake Shop in Verona, Wisconsin baked two indulgent sheet cakes for the wedding guests – mocha chocolate and white raspberry vanilla. Every single slice was gone by the end of the evening!

The Reception

The night continued at the Heidel House Hotel. Beth and Henry’s wedding party had an epic grand march and went above and beyond for their entrances. After the father-daughter and mother-son dances, the four of them joined together and performed a synchronized choreographed routine.

Advice to future couples:

Don’t stress the little things – it will all be ok!
