The wedding invitation suite featured in a recent issue of Premier Bride, created by L. Designs, set the tone perfectly for the rustic serene beauty that is Camp Elsewhere.
We chatted with Laura about her creative design process, here is what she had say…
Once you were given the theme how did you get started creating this invitation suite?
This theme was a lot of fun to work on, since it was unique. After looking over the colors and inspiration board, I knew I wanted to stick to natural tones that matched the outdoor scenery and include greens and browns. I saw an inspo picture that featured an outdoor watercolor image and knew that would be perfect for this wedding suite. Camp Elsewhere has the perfect picturesque outdoor space to create watercolor images out of. I knew images of the venue itself would really bring a wow factor to this design.
Tell us about some of the special elements of this design.
I was able to take photos from the venue and digitally convert them into watercolor images. Converting the images over to watercolors softens the images and gives them an elegant look and feel. This has become a very popular trend when it comes to incorporating your venue into your wedding invitations. To pull the design together, I then featured watercolor graphics on a timeline for a modern twist. The timeline has been around the block for a few years but adding an eye-catching graphic with a pop of extra color really makes it unique and fun. Another fun feature was the venue map! You would typically see a map for basic directions, where this map features the layout of the actual venue. The entire invitation really highlights the venue and should get your guests excited to attend.
Does the invitation suite reflect any current trends?
Some of the newest trends featured in this suite include the watercolor images of the wedding venue, a watercolor timeline and customized envelope graphic printing. White ink has also become very popular, but it is very rare to find printers that can provide this printing technique. To really make the envelopes stand out, I chose a dark green shade and used the rare printing technique to showcase white addresses and graphics.
Does the invitation suite reflect any of your personal favorite choices or aspects you particularly love couples to incorporate? If so, please tell us about those special elements!
One of my absolute favorite aspects of this suite is the variety of papers and colors. By using different colors and textured papers, you create an eye-catching design element that doesn’t require tons of busy glitter, glam and graphics. The subtle shift in colors and textures is enough to make the design really stand out. It also makes each printed piece unique and stand out on its own. I always recommend this to clients when printing a multiple piece suite.
Anything else we should know about the designs provided?
With the venue being a weekend retreat, I was able to create unique guest key tags. The key tags featured the images of the glamping tents that are on-site, along with the guests’ names. This was a fun add-on that you typically do not see with regular venues.
What is your process like for creating an invitation suite for a couple?
I offer two packages, Custom & Update. Custom allows clients to have brand new designs created from scratch, based on their vision and ideas. This is the perfect option for couples that have something specific in mind or have yet to find something they absolutely love. The Update package allows clients to head right to the website and choose from hundreds of designs that we already have created. This package allows you to see designs and then have them updated to meet your colors, wording, and price point. I have a quotation form right on the website to fill out for pricing and offer phone and in-person consultations. Turnaround time is roughly 3-6 weeks with local pickup and shipping available.
