Shawano Fall Wedding

Mikayla and Tommy’s romantic Crescent Ballroom Wedding.

The Beginning

Bump, set, spike… fall in love. Mikayla and Tommy first met at an outdoor volleyball tournament in Neenah. Tommy proposed as the couple was strolling through the Rotary Lights holiday light display on December 30, 2022.

The Dress

Mikayla found her dream wedding dress at White Dress Bridal Boutique in Milwaukee’s Walker’s Point neighborhood. After trying on about 15 dresses, she knew it was the one she envisioned herself wearing on her special day.

The Ceremony

The bride and groom said “I do” in the Crescent Ballroom at Stubborn Brothers Brewery in Shawano. Mikayla and Tommy will always remember looking each other in the eye as she walked down the aisle to meet him at the altar as the Brooklyn Duo cover of “Halo” by Beyoncé played. Tommy’s father served as the officiant, which meant a lot to the couple and their families.

The Décor

Mikayla and Tommy’s wedding was filled with DIY decorations. Even the invitations were designed from scratch. The centerpieces, bouquets, boutonnieres, signage, menus, drink tickets, and the light-up sign were all made by hand.

The Reception

“The love and support hit us during the reception,” the couple shared. We both remember a moment of being like, ‘Wow, we feel so special and so loved.’” The Crescent Ballroom was decorated with candles, which provided a sense of intimacy and warmth. The newlyweds shared their first dance to “From the Ground Up” by Dan + Shay. Thanks to David James Events, the dance floor was filled the entire evening.

The Food and Drinks

For dinner, guests enjoyed a family-style feast with beef tips with au jus, chicken with garlic gravy, garlic mashed potatoes, fried Brussels sprouts, a house salad, and hot rolls. Dessert featured the wedding cake baked by The Baked Lab in Madison, a variety of bite-sized treats from Nothing Bundt Cake in Green Bay, and Oreo balls from Christy’s Sunny Side in Richland Center.
