Mia and Tyler’s serene summer lakeside wedding.

How They Met

Mia and Tyler met in 2015 when they were students at Batavia High School in Batavia, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago. They had their first date at a breakfast restaurant near their homes. To this day, they eat there to enjoy the country fried steak, Mia’s favorite comfort dish.

The Engagement

After several years of dating, the couple bought Tyler’s grandfather’s house in August 2022. Once they moved in together, Tyler asked Mia’s mother and brother for their daughter and sister’s permission to propose. Her mom gave Tyler the family heirloom engagement ring, which was originally Mia’s grandma’s wedding ring. Tyler proposed to Mia on a gorgeous beach in Naples, Florida with both of their families present.

The Venue

The Heidel House Hotel and Conference Center hosted the entire weekend’s wedding festivities.

“We loved the idea of having a summer wedding that was able to be right next to the lake, the Heidel House was the perfect wedding location and the perfect hotel to have all our friends and family stay out”.  Fun fact: The Heidel House was the only venue we visited! We knew right away that it was going to be the perfect place to get married.”

Rehearsal Dinner Cruise & Welcome Party

After the rehearsal Mia and Tyler took the bridal party for a cruise aboard the Escapade Yacht on Green Lake.  Afterward, they hosted a welcome party for guests at Waves Pub & Grill restaurant, featuring a spread of Wisconsin favorites cheese curds, brats and burgers.

The Dress

Mia bought her wedding dress at Palm Bridal in Naples, Florida, where she and Tyler got engaged. She fell in love with the very first dress she tried on! She had actually gone to the same bridal shop a year prior with a family friend, who was dress shopping for herself.

First Look

Mia and Tyler chose to have all of their pictures taken on site by Dean & Alyssa Vernon of DV Productions. With numerous scenic spots available, there was no reason to venture elsewhere. They opted for a “first look” moment enveloped by the stunning natural landscape and the tranquil lake.

The Ceremony

The outdoor ceremony took place on the lush green lawn right on the lake. Three songs were played instrumentally as everyone walked down the aisle. Tyler and the wedding party walked to “Baby I Love Your Way” by Peter Frampton and “Daughters” by John Mayer. Mia walked down the aisle with her mom and her brother, the best man, to “Crazy Love” by Van Morrison. “The best part was walking back up the aisle together after being married and seeing all of our friends and family together,” the couple said.

The Food and Drinks

Heidel House provided all of the food and it  was “spectacular,” the couple stated. For the cocktail hour between the ceremony and reception various appetizers were served, including meatballs, shrimp, and ravioli. For dinner, guests had a choice of steak and lobster, chicken, and pasta. The late-night snack featured an ice cream bar and pizza. The wedding cake and along with cupcakes were from Baked Cakes by Design in Berlin, WI.

Tyler and Mia’s signature drink was a classic Shirley Temple, which they named “Kitty Cocktail” to pay homage to their two cats. Other noteworthy drinks included Mark’s Moscow Mule, named in honor of Mia’s dad, who unfortunately passed away in 2020 prior to the wedding. Tyler’s dad had a cocktail named after him as well: Cary’s Vodka with Cranberry Juice. Leisa, Mia’s mom, and Laura, Tyler’s mom, had wines dedicated to them: Meiomi Pinot Noir and Kim Crawford’s Sauvignon Blanc, respectively.

The Reception

The newlyweds’ reception was hosted in the Dartford Ballroom. The room was set up beautifully with flowers and décor. There was even a light-up dance floor, which definitely made the room pop! Mia and Tyler loved having fun with all of their friends and family and seeing how much fun everybody was having. Their first dance song was “Vienna” by Billy Joel. “

Advice from the couple:

Enjoy every minute!
Planning can be hard but the day will come together beautifully and will all fall into place!
