Rachel, an Oshkosh native, and Nick, who is from Chicago, met at work. She needed help with a collapsible wall that was stuck, and he was so determined to help her out and find a solution. Nick would not give up on the task, and Rachel was instantly attracted to his dedication.
Nick proposed to Rachel on Christmas Eve, right before heading to church and celebrating the holidays with their families.
Rachel found her dream wedding dress at Tie the Knot Bridal Boutique in Green Bay. “It just felt so right. The weight of it… it had pockets… I felt like I was glowing!” she shares. Her maid of honor took candid pictures of her in each of the dresses as she was trying them on. Rachel’s face in the photo of her wearing “the one” displays her genuine reaction of happiness.
Rachel and Nick’s beautiful wedding at The Howard in Oshkosh was beautiful. The traditional ceremony was held in the chapel space upstairs, in which Nick added some of his own humorous flair. At the altar, his groomsmen even helped “prep” him for their first kiss as a married couple. His best man gave him a breath mint, while his groomsman combed back his hair and held up a mirror to check himself out.
The color palette for Rachel and Nick’s big day included rose gold, navy, and champagne. uBloom Florist created the lush floral arrangements, boutonnieres, and bouquets. For favors and to add a pop of color to each place setting, local artisan Ted Wilcox from Bent Arrow Pottery in Oshkosh made 150 clay heart ornaments adorned with the couple’s wedding date and initials on the back.
The delicious dinner, including appetizers and entrees, was catered by The Howard. The scrumptious wedding cake was from La Sure’s Bakery in Oshkosh.
After Rachel and Nick officially become husband and wife, the party continued at The Howard in the ballroom. Rachel changed her dress and for the second time that evening felt like a princess as she came down the stairs. The reception included dancing with tunes from Will Nye the DJ Guy in the ballroom and concluded with bowling, pizza, and drinks. All of which received positive feedback from the guests.
When asked their favorite thing they planned for the their wedding, they replied
“The Bowling and pizza, as well as all the local businesses we utilized to make our day that much more special.“
