De Pere, Wisconsin natives Rachael and Chris met at Rachael’s cousin’s wedding. She was a bridesmaid, and he was a guest. They discovered they had several mutual friends, and one of her cousins set them up that very night. The rest is history!
A couple of years ago, Rachael landed a job in Washington State while Chris stayed in Wisconsin. While making the cross-country move, they stopped in Montana for a few days. While on a hike, Chris got down on one knee and asked Rachael to marry him. She was in total shock but incredibly happy. “He has always been my biggest supporter, and even though I was moving, he still wanted it known that he saw forever with me,” Rachael shares. Nine months later, Rachael moved back to Wisconsin to be with her fiancé and, eventually, husband.
L.Designs created the custom invitation suite that included a modern eucalyptus design. Matching signage along with wedding favor tags and custom labels for the hand rolled cigars were also crafted in the same hues.
Rachael found her dream wedding dress, designed by Anais Anette at a&bé Bridal Shop in Minneapolis. After trying on about 10 gowns, she wasn’t ready to commit to “the one.” However, when the consultant told her the name of the dress, Rae, she immediately loved it. Her late grandfather, Raphael, went by Ray. Rachael was born on his sixtieth birthday and was named after him, creating a special bond between the two. She knew he was with her that day.
Rachael and Chris exchanged their vows and said, “I do” at Old St. Joe’s Church, part of St. Norbert College Parish. Their ceremony was the perfect blend of heartfelt and humorous. Father Seamus, a family friend, did a wonderful job of making the ceremony so personal. He asked the couple what they loved about each other and used their words as part of the homily. The church was filled with laughter, tears, and so much joy.
Foto Ruby captured photos of the couple and their bridal party at Mack’s Bar in De Pere as well as in Lambeau Field. Michael Cortes Pro Videography shot video, which the newlyweds will cherish forever.
The main color palette of Rachael and Chris’s wedding consisted of sage, eucalyptus, white, and gold – all of which, of course, blended in perfectly at Lambeau. A variety of vendors contributed to making the venue absolutely stunning. Branching Out & Company put together the florals. Luxe Rentals provided an old fashioned shelving for their party favors as well as the photo booth backdrop. They hired Sparkle Pics Photo Kiosks for the photo booth, which was a huge hit! Ruby Design Event Rentals created the table number holders.
There were also plenty of DIY projects that brought the atmosphere together. Rachael and her mother put together some of the centerpieces – different sized candle holders, fake candlesticks, and dried eucalyptus tied to gold rings. Chris’s brother built a large wooden frame for the seating chart as well as the card holders. He is part of a family cabinetry business, and his handiwork made for a wonderful personal touch.
Rachael and Chris’s reception was at the Johnsonville Tailgate Village at Lambeau Field. They met at a wedding there, and they are both huge Packer fans, so it was the perfect fit! Their first dance was a bit unconventional. They danced to “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper and “Larger Than Life” by the Backstreet Boys – two songs they danced to together the night they met.
The reception started with a cocktail hour followed by dinner, speeches, and then dancing. Rachael and Chris are very close with their families, and their loved ones’ speeches made the night extra special. Guests were able to leave messages for the couple via an audio guestbook, After the Tone. The couple had fun listening to their family and friends give them well wishes. The live band, Soda, was extremely talented and kept the dance floor packed.
Delaware North catered the dinner, which included plated options of a steak and chicken combo, salmon, and mushroom ravioli. Guests enjoyed an open bar for drinks. McKayla Marie Sweets baked up a lovely mini dessert bar to indulge in..
Prioritize what is most important to you and stick with it, and make a clear budget!!!
