Sean and Kaitlyn met at Seymour Middle School in 6th grade homeroom. Sean winked at Kaitlyn and they’ve basically been together ever since. Sean proposed at Christmas one year, after joking to Kaitlyn’s sister that if he picked Kaitlyn’s name for the family gift exchange, he would get the ring and pop the question in front of everyone. As luck would have it, Sean picked Kaitlyn’s name, and he kept his end of the deal. She didn’t suspect a thing!
L.designs created all invites and signage for the day, including a welcome sign, reserved seat sign, programs, and more. “Laura at L.designs made it so fun and simple to make everything your own style,” Kaitlyn says. “She was quick to reply and get us proofs with changes we’d like to see. I was so excited to see her name pop up in my emails!”
Kaitlyn’s gown ended up being the second one she tried on—but she didn’t realize it until trying on 16 more! “The gal helping us pulled 18 dresses for me,” Kaitlyn says. “We kept pushing through, and I kept describing my dress and at the end the lady said to me, ‘I don’t care what you say, you’re trying this dress back on because it looked stunning on you and you keep describing it to me and you don’t even realize it.’” She was right, and Kaitlyn said yes to her dream dress!
Kaitlyn and Sean planned an April wedding at the Ledgecrest Reserve. “We liked how it was a complete blank slate, but also still a style we both loved.” They ended up going with a neutral color palette, natural greenery, and leather accents. “Black complimented the space really well and it looked so sharp in photos. It was so easy to work with and didn’t have to worry about things matching. And black never goes out of style.”
The biggest DIY for the wedding was a ceremony arch that Kaitlyn’s Uncle Chuck made with the help of her dad. It was nearly 11-feet tall and was able to house a large cross inside during the ceremony, then swap in a fun neon sign during the reception. Greenery added to the arch was the perfect finishing touch. “All pictures turned out incredible with the arch as a focal point in the background with the sentimental value of having it made by family.”
The wedding party had their pictures taken on-site during the cocktail hour with Alli Martins Photography.
The bride and groom opted for a 3:00 ceremony with the cocktail hour starting right at 3:30 until 5:30. They loved having everything in one place. For dinner, there was a pig roast which became barbecue pork sandwiches, plus broasted chicken, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, pasta salad, coleslaw, and more. There was a faux wedding cake for pictures, plus custom cookies for guests to enjoy. “We had them individually wrapped so people could take them home as a wedding favor to eat later or they could open it and eat it right away.”
Kaitlyn and Sean are grateful that some unforgettable moments were caught on video. The best man “Iced” the bride and groom during his speech and Kaitlyn won. “The entire place erupted in cheers, and it was at that moment we were so glad we got a videographer. Don’t fight it, stop thinking about it, just book the videographer!”
When asked if there’s anything she would change, all Kaitlyn had to say:
“With the way everything turned out, we wouldn’t change a darn thing!”
