Brilliant Blooms Styled Shoot: Food & Drink

Tasty Eats by Give Mac, Twist Pretzels & More!

What’s one of the main things guests remember about any wedding? The food! For our recent styled shoot with 88 Events at Appleton’s Poplar Hall, we partnered with some scrumptious local food vendors to bring some deliciousness to the day.

Give Mac

First up, it’s Give Mac, a plant-based bakery serving Green Bay and the Fox Cities.  What started with macarons now encompasses cakes, cupcakes, and more. We spoke with the owner, Cassandra, who told us a bit about Give Mac’s philosophy and cakes:

But First, Cake

“All of our cakes are vegan, covered in a dreamy buttercream, and our design elements are handmade. The daisy flowers (crafted from edible wafer paper) and the candied lemons were arranged to create a quirky, simple, and non-traditional feel.” The cake flavors for our photoshoot were Funfetti and Raspberry Lemonade. “I wanted the simplicity of the cakes to stand on their own. You’re able to appreciate the beauty of all of the bright flowers, accessories, and decor, but they still manage to catch your eye.”

Cupcakes Galore

Cupcakes are a great way to feed a crowd of hungry wedding guests. Give Mac’s photoshoot cupcakes bring the yellow accents from the cakes into the bright, citrus-toned cupcakes for an effortless, cohesive look. “Cupcakes are a perfect individualized treat for each guest—it’s their own mini decorated cake, and they are just as special!”

Cake & Cupcakes—Better Together?

We asked Cassandra her thoughts on having both a cake and cupcakes for a wedding: “I love the idea of a smaller cake for pictures and then choosing cupcakes for all of your guests. The smaller cake leaves so much room for creativity. You can really have fun with it! Cupcakes are great because they allow you to play with flavors and cater to your guests preferences. I recommend keeping the cupcakes with your wedding theme and opting for a dessert display. Guests can pick and choose what they want and enjoy it at their leisure throughout the night.”

The Twist Gourmet Pretzels

Let’s balance out the sweet with something salty. The Twist Gourmet Pretzels is a pop-up pretzel food stand based in Wisconsin and established in 2021. The owner, Victoria, started The Twist her senior year of high school. We spoke with Victoria, who shared with us about her pretzels, her journey, and her advice for brides.

About The Twist

How did The Twist come about? “It started as a fun summer job and a way to pay for my college tuition. I didn’t want to get another serving job because I enjoy being my own boss and The Twist has given me opportunities and lessons I would not have received otherwise. I am currently a sophomore at UW Green Bay and have plans to study abroad my junior year!”

Pretzel Flavors & Delicious Dips

The Twist has six pretzel flavors to pick from, each one inspired by Victoria’s family: “The Old Man is a classic salted pretzel. The Mama is a parmesan garlic pretzel. The Boss is a ranch flavored pretzel. The Savvy is topped with everything-but-the-bagel seasoning. The Lil Bro is a cinnamon sugar. The Hot One is a powdered sriracha seasoning.” The Twist offers its flavors in three iterations—the whole pretzel, pretzel bites, or a pretzel skewer with three bites on a skewer. The pretzels also come with tasty dips: Fat Tire Beer Cheese Dip, Honey Mustard, and an Icing Dip for the Lil Bro.

Add The Twist to Your Wedding

For weddings, The Twist can drop off at the venue, set up a display (think: wall of pretzels), or couples can rent the pop-up tent, which includes full service and employees. Victoria’s thoughts on pretzels at weddings: “Pretzels are something everyone loves. Guests appreciate a little snack after dancing and partying. I recommend renting the tent to all of the brides because it is the easiest and stress-free for the party. With the tent, it’s full-service, so we take the guests’ order and serve the pretzels warm.”

Tea Time

To liven up the beverage offerings, we welcomed FIKA Coffee & Tea to our Poplar Hall photoshoot as well. Fika is a Swedish word, meaning the intention to slow down and appreciate the good things in life. Their shop offers craft teas and coffees—and they can bring that goodness to your Northeast Wisconsin wedding, too!
