Wedding Paper Goods, Simple & Striking

For our recent  styled wedding shoot at the Gibson Social Club in Oshkosh, we left no detail unattended to. We turned to L.designs for invitations and paper goods to complete the illusion of a full-fledged wedding, thoughtfully designed from start to finish. After all, when it comes to real weddings, the very first thing your guests experience are the invitations.

We asked Laura of L.designs about the suite she created for this photo shoot.

Here’s what she had to say:

A Sleek Design

“I had just made a few new designs featuring black and knew this color was not only up and coming but would work perfect for this shoot! I wanted to create something that was moody and edgy, yet modern and elegant. I made the main invitation my focal point, using bold black ink for the background and then incorporated simple modern fonts to complete the look. To make the look a little more edgy, I turned the titles sideways and added a graphic timeline. This allowed the design to keep it’s sleek, simple lines but also added another design element on top of it.”

Trend Watch: Simple & Bold

“A few years back, invites were very graphic based, featuring tons of floral graphics and intense watercolors. Now, couples are looking for invitations that are very simple, yet still elegant. The best way to do that is with PAPER!  You can keep the fonts your main focal point on the invitations, then enhance the design with colored inks, colored and textured papers, and additional add-ons, such as colored envelopes, belly bands, and envelope liners.”

“In this photoshoot suite, the black ink is very bold, so I didn’t want to add much in the way of additional graphics to avoid making the look too busy. When working with simple font designs, I like to incorporate additional colors and textures for the papers in order to make the design still pop. By adding in the additional kraft brown and white cotton card stocks, I was able to build contrast and character to the look without the use of graphics.”

Extra Element: Visual Timeline

“The visual timeline is a fun trend that is both unique and modern. Instead of filling an entire insert with more words, the graphic timeline provides simple images paired with basic titles for a clean look and easy way for guests to follow along with your wedding day schedule. This is a great piece for guests to keep and bring along with them the day of the wedding. Instead of needing to read tons of details, they can just glance at the card and know what to expect.”
