Our recent modern-industrial wedding shoot took place at the historic Gibson Social Club, located in the heart of downtown Oshkosh. The revitalized space is housed in the former Gibson Tire Company building on Main Street and is full of warmth, charm, and spacious beauty—fitting to celebrate some of life’s most exceptional moments.
For the photo shoot, the Gibson Social Club provided not only our wedding venue, but the bar and cocktails as well. We asked the team at the Gibson how they went about preparing for the shoot.
“The Gibson Social Club has three bars located throughout the venue. The main reception hall features the club’s primary bar, which was built with an antique cabinet from Crescent Moon Antiques & Salvage. We worked with master carpenter, Brian Handy of Handywork Carpentry, to create our spectacular custom bar fronts that emulate the arches in our staircase railings, designed by P&D Metal Works and conceptualized by Kristen Hoopman.”
“The front lobby bar showcases custom arch shelving and our upstairs mezzanine bar features built-in banquette seating both built by Brian Handy. The bars are the centerpieces of the Gibson Social Club, which is why we needed someone to take exceptional care of the drinks being curated and served at their marble countertops.”
“Our Food & Beverage Director, Will Amacher, is known for his elaborate cocktails like the Room 237, which he created for the Gibson’s ‘The Shining’-themed Halloween party. For this shoot, Will featured tried and true libations like the Gibson Martini and a classic Bourbon Old Fashioned while also highlighting his creativity with the Oaxaca Mule and lavender-colored Aviation. Will is able to create custom beverage menus for weddings and smaller private events for those who prefer to add a personalized touch to their gatherings.”
“This shoot proves that the Gibson Social Club can really be a blank canvas for events. We’ve had couples prefer to keep decor simple and allow the building’s architecture and industrial design speak for itself.” “However, with the right team of vendors, the Gibson Social Club can be transformed into a bold, imaginative backdrop for a couple’s most important day. We love the idea of couples embracing the design Kristen Hoopman worked so hard to implement while also allowing a team of professional wedding vendors to play and bring their visions to life.”
“This particular group of vendors brought creativity and whimsy to the Gibson Social Club. It was refreshing to see dramatic colors, bold florals and imaginative uses of space in our venue. We also felt an instant bond with the vendors’ personalities. While we may be new kids on the block, they embraced our passion and ideas and never showcased even an ounce of ego despite being part of the industry much longer than us. It was a dream team we’d love to be part of again!”
