Eric and Olivia met through Olivia’s best friend. “She thought we would be a great fit and introduced us!” When Eric popped the question, the two were on a Las Vegas vacation and took a day trip to the Grand Canyon. “We were walking around and I asked someone to take a picture of Eric and me,” Olivia recalls. “He proposed at that moment, so we have pictures to remember our special day!”
The happy couple originally planned a May 2020 wedding, but had to postpone until September due to Covid-19. “We feel very fortunate that we were able to keep almost all of our original vendors. Green Bay Botanical Garden and the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center Green Bay (now the Oneida Hotel were both very accommodating. The Green Bay Botanical Garden moved us to a bigger garden so we were able to have all of our family and friends still attend. The Radisson also moved us to a larger space, so we could space the tables further apart to allow for social distancing.”
Olivia’s overall advice for wedding planning starts with prioritization. “Prioritizing what was more important for us would have helped us with budgeting. There are some things we felt okay splurging on and some things that just weren’t as important to us.” Olivia also advises future brides to “stress less, accept help, and trust that everything will come together—because it will!”
Eric and Olivia wanted a timeless, elegant look for their wedding. “I think this really showed in some of our details,” Olivia says. “Checkered tuxes, the floral arrangements, and hints of gold throughout our decor.” The flowers were in shades of white and green. The bridesmaids wore light blue dresses from Tie the Knot Bridal Boutique, while Olivia found her gown at All About the Gown.
On the morning of the wedding, Olivia and Eric exchanged letters they had written for each other and also did a First Look. The ceremony was held at the Green Bay Botanical Gardens with Olivia’s uncle officiating. “We had perfect weather for our outdoor ceremony.” After the ceremony, the bride and groom stopped at Sherwood Forest Park for pictures. While there, Olivia surprised Eric by bringing their dog along for some photos.
For the dinner reception, guests gathered at the Radisson Green Bay. “The people at the Radisson were amazing to work with from start to finish. They were so helpful and organized with wedding planning and worked so hard to make our day that much more special. The way our room came together with the lighting and decorations was so beautiful.”
Dinner was also catered by the Radisson. “Our dinner was a classic Wisconsin wedding meal of chicken and beef tips.” The cake from Monzu Bakery had two different flavors: carrot rum and chocolate peanut butter. “Both were delicious!” In the end, Olivia and Eric were thrilled with how everything came together. “We were so happy with our vendors. They truly made our day more amazing than we could have asked for!”
